Memorial Reflections
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith;” II Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
On May 27, 2017,God looked down from heaven and saw that the journey was getting a little hard for his beloved daughter, Inez Hamilton Olivares. At 11:00 A.M. He summoned His angels to First Health Hospice House, Moore County to usher her into eternal life. Inez was born on October 3, 1936 to the late Alberta D. Latin in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Her years of education were attained in the Forsyth County School System. She was a faithful and devoted member of Phillips Chapel Baptist Church, Winston Salem, North Carolina, where she served faithfully until medical issues would not allow her to continue. She was a true servant of God. Her faith in Him kept strong for the journey. Despite health issues her love for God, church, family and friends did not stop. We can truly say despite all obstacles she did not complain. Her strength was admired by many because her soul was anchored in God. She had a genuine smile that spoke for her. While she was able, she sowed many seeds into the hearts of many. We can truly say that our beloved sent up her timber and worked while it was day. The memories we have of her will forever be in our hearts. Her beauty, sweet spirit, caring disposition, her resilience, faith, joy and above all her love for people are attributes that we will forever cherish. Her works and labors of love truly speak for her. Two of her many cherished moments on this journey was in singing as back up for the legendary Pastor Shirley Caesar and as being best friends with the world’s renown queen.... Tina Turner. The bond that she shared with both of them was truly noteworthy and one that very few get to share in this life. What an honor!
Surviving to emulate her love for God and Family forever are: one daughter, Cynthia Braxton; four brothers, SGM (Ret) Jose (Kim) Hamilton, Ronald (Elizabeth) Hamilton, Robert (Monique) Hamilton and Lorenzo “cousin/brother” Latin that she raised as her own; four grandchildren, Robert (Monique) Latin, Charles Parsons, Peggy Braxton and Alberta Mitchell; eight great grandchildren, Nevashia Mitchell, Nichelle Moore, Brandon Smith, Jr., Tanashia Mitchell, Gabriel Becton, Jarrel Goodine, Camryn Becton and John Mitchell; one sister, Darnella Moore; numerous nieces and nephews; one great nephew/god son, Jonathan McCall; extended family and friends that she truly loved and who truly loved her. We honor the legacy of her BFF (best friend forever), the late ever present in heart, Helen Dudley McKoy who was a true cousin/ sister to her. Today we say “THANK YOU LORD” for her journey. Her journey on this side is now complete. She has traveled the last mile of the way and for this we give you glory. Rest in the arms of God. Surely we will meet again. In the rising of every sun we will see your smiling face. Good night....until we meet again.
Inez,
You are gone yet not forgotten,
Although we are apart,
Your spirit lives within me, Forever in my heart.
Your Brother, Jose
