Gonnie Mae Boykin was born on May 2, 1939, in Sampson County to the late Isaac and Geneva Boykin. She was the youngest of nine children and was adored by everyone. Gonnie was preceded in death by her son, Manuel Boykin.

 On Sunday, July 28, 2024, she transitioned from this earthly life. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, son Danny and daughter-in-law Cathy Boykin, and a large and loving family. She is survived by five grandchildren: Tamika (Lorenzo) Faison, Nikki (Jason) Howard, Myesha Boykin, Marcus Boykin, and Mario Boykin, and six great-grandchildren: Jada Haire, Jason Howard Jr., Jacob Jones, Noah Faison, Joshua Faison, and Jaxson Hale.

Others left to cherish her memories are Stella Boykin, sister-in-law; Naomi Andrews, special niece; and other nieces, nephews, and cousins, Layton (LJ) Johnson- bonus son. She enjoyed being a devoted Floral Club and Mission Group #9 member.
